This course taught me a lot about being a technology coach. It gave me the courage to enlist in my school Technology Committee and coach other teachers in instructional technology. I thoroughly enjoyed coaching my colleague and studying the different strategies that come with coaching a teacher. I also learned that creating a checklist for coaching is the best way to go and that the checklist does not have to include detail explanations of the tasks. This helps us stay focused because there is no way that we will be able to remember everything we did during the coaching sessions prior to the implementation of the strategy. I also enjoyed the Current Reality and GSAPS, because this assignment gave me the opportunity to learn the logistics behind the school Improvement Plan and the funding that comes with it.
The Impact Cycle text book is one that I will keep for my library, so I can go back and refresh my memory while coaching other teachers. I found out that I am a pretty good video editor while working in the assignment with my teacher, having to edit the video to a 10 min. running time for evaluation. The Coaching Journals helped me reflect on what I have discussed with my teacher and improve for the next coaching session.
This class was a challenging one, but Dr. C. made this class enjoyable and stress free. His understanding during this pandemic helped me concentrate and finish the assignments with meaningful content, instead of rushing through them.
