Candidates facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. (PSC 1.1/ISTE 1a)
Artifact: 7410 Shared Vision
Reflection:
The Shared Vision and Rationale paper was designed to provide an understanding of the shared vision for technology in Paulding County. This artifact is designed to evaluate the standards addressed while developing and implementing the use of technology in the schools. I participated implementing the standards at North Paulding High School (NPHS) by becoming a member of the Technology Committee and providing Professional Learning/Development (PLD) to the staff.
I participated in the development of the Shared Vision plan by creating a series of Microsoft Forms surveys that were distributed to the staff during PLD sessions about how technology best could be implemented in our school. By giving the staff a series of choices on what types of Web 2.0 tools would serve our students best, I facilitated the development and delivery of meaningful PLD in collaboration with my colleagues of the Technology Committee, by conducting research on best practices strategies, testing the strategies in my lessons and delivering information to staff of my own personal experience in the implementation of the Shared Vision for technology. I also coached teachers in their own implementation of the strategies for instructional technology by providing checklists, and planning collaboration and resources to enhance their implementation of the plan.
The Shared Vision I helped develop and implement at NPHS has become the standard for technology use at the school. I have facilitated the delivery of several instructional technology tools that aid teachers and staff incorporate technology into their daily lessons. I have coached several teachers in the implementation of instructional technology programs such as Nearpod, Google Classroom, Pear Deck, Flipgrid, Adobe Spark, etc.
I learned that some of the implementation of technology at NPHS were not as effective in the past because the development was focused on work that was not meaningful to the students and without best practices objectives clearly explained. One thing I would do differently when I review the Shared Vision plan is to ensure that at least one representative from each department is represented in the Technology Committee, to voice concerns from their constituents firsthand. Also, I would provide a wider range of technology tools.
The work that went into creating the Shared Vision plan impacted school improvement by providing a clear set of objectives and identifying the need for improvement in the instructional technology development. This impact can be measured by data provided by the different Web 2.0 programs that we facilitated the use of during our PLD sessions. Teacher surveys data can also measure the growth of plan, teachers had input on the different programs they would like to use in their classroom. We developed and facilitated the use of technology schoolwide by examining the need for improvement, collecting, and analyzing data to facilitate the development of a meaningful Shared Vision plan that was directly connected with the School Improvement plan.
