Diversity
Diversity Statement
During this program, based on my Capstone Project research, I learned that with meaningful instruction and Technology rich PBLs, diverse background students, minority students, and low-income students will be able to compete in the high-tech market of the world. I have acquired knowledge that will allow me to encourage the diverse population in our school to enroll and participate in upper-level STEM classes, by addressing the need for inclusion of the underrepresented demographic in these classes. I have addressed this issue at the school, on how we will ensure that students from diverse backgrounds and demographics can benefit from these classes. I have promoted the need for diverse participation in STEM classes by actively recruiting students for these classes. Plan International (2018), found that families usually promote the stereotype that dissuade girls from enrolling in high-tech classes. For this reason, I have provided the stakeholders with a series of artifacts that contain information, data and strategies from research-based studies that have been proven to be successful when increasing diverse background student participation in schools. Some of the activities I have successfully implemented at my school on promoting diversity in our programs include:
