6.3 Field Experiences
Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
This artifact is the ITEC 7445 Multimedia Project Design Field Experience. The purpose of this artifact was to select and evaluate Instructional Technology tools for integration on an online Project Based Learning (PBL) WebQuest. My individual contribution to this artifact was all the research performed during the design stage of the WebQuest and the integration of new technology PBLs in my department and my classes.
This artifact demonstrate mastery of the standard because it shows how I engaged in a Field Experience to apply the Visual Design Principles of Proximity, Alignment, Repetition, Contrast in a PBL geared towards the Instructional Technology standards. This artifact also shows mastery of the standard by demonstrating how I synthesized and applied the content of my professional knowledge to develop a technology rich PBL and how I purposely selected tools and tasks that are aligned with the PSC an ISTE standards so the students can experience a meaningful use of technology in the classroom.
I learned from completing this artifact to differentiate content, process, product and learning environment to meet the diverse needs of all students by following Universal Design for Learning (UDL). I also learned that UDL is a framework that guides the design of instruction to be adjusted to meet the individual student’s needs. This allowed me to consider the different methods on How/Why/What by designing my project based on stimulating the learner’s interest, differentiating the way students can express what they know and allowing them to present information and content in different ways. What I would do differently is to include more media platforms for the students to have a complete vision of technology while performing the tasks.
By creating this artifact school improvement, faculty development, and student learning was impacted because I was able to deliver Professional Learning sessions on Instructional Technology strategies that develop critical thinking skills in the students as well as maintain the students engaged in learning. This outcome was assessed during the implementation of my Capstone project with the teachers at my school.
